To whom this function is addressed?
It is addressed to organizations like Universities, Law Firms, Companies or Government Agencies, etc., that already have a corporate Intranet and can integrate the accounts between their intranet and vLex.
Which are the benefits of Single Sign-On?
Single Sign-On provides the following benefits:
- Users will be able to access vLex from any computer, anywhere, with no IP restrictions.
- Users need not to remember a username and password in order to access vLex, what will in turn increase the use.
- Each user will have a private space within vLex where he will be able to create his own notes, highlights, favorites, folders, alerts and his search history and the documents browsed will be private.
- You will have access to the statistics regarding how many users are using vLex and how often they are accessing.
Is it complicated to implement Single Sign-On?
Actually, it is very simple. You just have to create only one page in your intranet and vLex offers an example code in several programming languages. See the technical requirements for more details.
How do I activate Single Sign-On?
Access vLex with your administrator account, go to Account and then click in Remote Authentication. Once there you must complete the following fields:
‘Activate Remote Authentication’
Activating this option enables Single Sign-On, therefore corporate users can log easily, with no need to remember username and password in every access to vLex from your system.
Here you must specify the url in your server where Single Sign-On will be implemented.
This is the url where vLex will redirect the user once he is out.
Once you complete the form vLex will provide you the following data:
This is a secret code between you and vLex. You must never provide this information. In case you modify this code you must modify also the code that sets to the library that you use in your system and that vLex has provided.
Remember that the code is not updated until the form is sent.
This is your vLex account id. You will need this information in order to build the link.
Once the account is activated your technical department must create a remote Login Page. See the technical requirements and the example code for further information.
